MiniFlash Touch: accurancy and lower costs

The flash point tester MiniFlash Touch according to ASTM D6450 and ASTM D7094 methods ensure the flash point determination with better accurancy, lower costs per analysis and better safety.
As you can see in the table below the cost per analysis is reduced thanks to lower time consuming operations by the lab operator and a reduction of the waste produced per analysis.

Moreover the reduced costs per analysis that enables a fast Return On Instment, the analytical method Continuously Closed Cup Flash Point, ensure higher safety considering that a small sample volume (1 or 2 ml of sample) is tested in a closed cup reducing the risk of fire during testing.
The ASTM D7094 method has been accepted, December 2013 by the ASTM commitee D02for the following fuel specification:
  • Fuel oils (D396)
  • Diesel fuel oils (D975)
  • Gas turbine fuel oils (D2880)
  • Kerosene (D3699)

This fact confirms what was found in several round robin (RR:D02-1581) comparing the results obtained using method ASTM D7094 (MCCCFP - Modified Continuously Closed Cup Flash Point) and what obtained using ASTM D93 Procedure A (Pensky-Martens):
"there is no statistically significant bias observed between ASTM D7094 and ASTM D93 Procedure A”

MiniFlash Touch is ideal for the flash point determination on pure product or finished product, furthermore it is able to reveal the presence of contaminants in diesel, e.g. gasoline in diesel, or determine the presence of diesel in lubricating oils.

Fuel dilution in lube oils changes its viscosity and hence the lubricating properties of the oil, resulting in increased wear of mechanical parts due to higher friction which can eventually lead to serious damage and engine drop-out. Fuel dilution decreases the flash point.
